Chapter 5 summary of "Tarzan Of The Apes"

In this chapter Edgar Rice Burroughs writes about how Tarzan adapts to the apes. He talks about how Tarzan's ape father Tublat believes Tarzan will not become a great ape. As the chapter progresses Tarzan develops stronger muscles even greater then that of a fully grown man. One day Tarzan was with his friend when they go down to the pond to get water when Tarzan really notices how different he looks from his friends and other apes. As he looks down in amazement a lioness attacks his friend; Tarzan screams for the tribe to come help his friend but they come to late.

As the chapter ends the author tells about how Tublat and Tarzan's relationship is and how it is not a very polite one. He gives examples of how Tarzan uses every opportunity to make his father look bad. He also says that Tarzan created a rope to catch his fellow ape with it. Tublat always feels like he is about to get thrown into the rope and die. Tarzan believes he should use it to kill the lioness.
