Chapter 11 summary of "Tarzan Of The Apes"

In this chapter Edgar Rice Burroughs continues to write about the archer's death but Tarzan had finally reached his tribe from his journey to Mbonga. He shows off his bows and arrows to the tribe but Kerchak doesn't care about his discovery. Tarzan practices his shooting and lost most of his arrows. As the days go on he goes back into the cabin and reads the dictionary to learn. The next day he sets out on his journey to go back to the town of Mbonga.

When he got there he waited for hours upon hours to finally get his chance to take his precious arrows. He finally got his chance to jump down from his tree without being noticed. There had been men that came back from a hunt in the woods. The city held a ceremony just like that of the Dum-Dum ceremony for the apes. He quickly jumped down from his tree. As he bundled up his arrows he thought of a plan to play a trick on the village again. He went into the same hut that he had already played a trick on.

As he looked around the room a woman had came inside. Tarzan snuggled against the wall trying to not be noticed. The woman searched around the room for something special getting ever so closer to Tarzan. Right before she touched Tarzan she had found what she needed. As he left he had taken an item that he had wanted. He climbed up a tree to see what they women were doing. After the ceremony a women had came near to the tree Tarzan had been on. Tarzan dropped the item near the woman and she told all of the people of the village. After this he left the village.

As he journeyed back to his tribe he spotted Sabor the lioness and demanded war. He used his bow and arrows to kill Sabor. It took several shots at the Sabor kill her. He had cut her hide off and ate as much as he could; also he took a very long nap. When he got back all of the tribe looked with amazement at Tarzan with Sabor's hide. Kerchak did not like this and wanted to fight Tarzan.

As they fought Tarzan pulled out his hunting knife and jabbed Kerchak many times. Kerchak tried to punch Tarzan many times. Tarzan made the last blow and killed Kerchak Tarzan declared that he is the King of the apes.
