Chapter 10 summary of "Tarzan of the Apes"

In this chapter Edgar Rice Burroughs continues to write about how Tarzan has followed the archer to the city of Mbonga. Tarzan had gotten even closer to the village by gliding through the trees to a part of the jungle that touches the village. As Tarzan looks out into the village he thinks about killing and how he doesn't kill for laughter or pleasure but yet he is a human so he does kill for pleasure. He looks at the people of the village and notices that they are similar to him. He also sees a woman putting the poison on the arrow and has the urge to take the arrows.

As he looked in amazement a man of the village notices the archer's body and screams for help. The woman had ran off to help the screaming man. Tarzan swoops down and swiftly takes the poisonous arrows. He believes he will be able to look into the village. He looks in to one of the huts which happen to be the archer's living place.

He looks at all of the items in the room which are swords, knifes, arrows, and also skulls. He decides to get creative and puts every item he could under a pot that was in the middle of the room. While he was doing so the warriors had started to come back with the dead body. Tarzan notices this and jumps out of the hut and runs towards the jungle. He looks back and sees the warriors running towards the hut. He notices the prestigious man in the village telling the warriors to look for anybody that is not welcome. Tarzan runs away as fast as he can going back to the tribe.
