Chapter 24 summary of "Tarzan of the Apes"

In this chapter Edgar Rice Burroughs writes about when Jane, Clayton and the others of the group were looking for the village to find D'Arnot. They did not find him or any of the warriors just lieutenant D'Arnot clothes and remains. The entire group thinks that D'Arnot is dead but Jane believes that Tarzan saved him and they are both alive. Clayton assumes that Tarzan is a bad person and the he should not be followed but everyone else in the group believes that Tarzan should be followed and that he is a helpful and generous person. Clayton and Jane get in an argument about Tarzan with occasional chimes by the others in the group. They had discussed of leaving the coast forever but before they did they looked the the treasure that the mutineers had buried with the body of Snipes'. They came back emptied handed. They blamed the blacks for taking the treasure. The captain of the ship said that they would leave the next morning. Before they left Jane left a letter to Tarzan.
