In this chapter Edgar Rice Burroughs writes about how the two old men that had ran off into the jungle when Clayton had first arrived with Jane are talking about where they are. Suddenly a lion had started to stalk them. Soon after they had noticed the lion Tarzan had came upon them without them noticing him. Tarzan noticed that the lion was already full but he was following the two men till he was hungry again. Tarzan swooped down and grabbed both of the men and put them high in a tree.
As they stayed in the tree Tarzan noticed that the lion had stayed loitering around the tree. As the two men got scared one of them pushed the other making them both hurtle towards the ground. Tarzan had jumped down and waited for them to follow him. The men argued about whether they should follow Tarzan or not. Tarzan tied a rope around both of them because he got impatient and they followed. Tarzan let the men go after they had gotten close enough to the cabin. They told their adventure's when they got back to the cabin.
