In this chapter Edgar Rice Burroughs continues to write about how Tarzan and Clayton heard the firearm go off and they were racing towards it to save Jane Porter. Clayton got very scared when he realized that he was 100 feet in the air with nothing to cushion his fall. They could hear Sabor's voice and as soon as they saw a near clearing thy dropped through it and hit the sand and ran towards the window to pull Sabor out of the window.
As Sabor was about to crawl through the window Jane had woken up since she had fainted. Tarzan and Clayton were pulling as hard as they possibly could to try to get the lion out of the window. Jane had shot Sabor and did not shoot again because she saw that the lion was being pulled out. Tarzan was trying to tell Clayton to take out some the arrows and stab Sabor but Clayton could not understand. As Sabor was pulled out of the window Tarzan thought of what he had done to Tarkoz, the Full-Nelson. Tarzan pulled as far back on Sabor's limbs and broke his back. Tarzan did his roar of victory again and then raced into the jungle. Jane had asked what the shriek was but Clayton didn't know where Tarzan had gone so he told her that he had been saved by some ape-man.
